I started working on a big pot of the Alton Bluffs in fall colors. The Alton Bluffs are along the east side of the Mississippi River north of St. Louis.



It is a ten mile drive along the "Great River Road" and in the fall the colors are often spectacular.



I have painted pictures in this area at this time of year. It's about time for something in clay. The pot will be dripping in fall colors! And it is porcelain so it will be brightly colored.



This pot will be around the studio a long time. Big ones tend to linger, particularily if I don't have all the appropriate glazes. I start making pots like these and oft don't have the glazes to proceed. Then it is glaze test time. And more tests, and more tests...

And this past week, I also made some gourds that will be glazed in earth tone colors.
