I finished the Alton Bluffs pot. It will sit for a month in a loose plastic bag. It is porcelain and it is thick and heavy. Still, I don't anticipate any problems.
I was going to keep it strictly a piece of sculpture- no function. But I had a change of heart when I was working on the top. I started piercing the top so it could still be used as a vase. Why?
I also threw a big classically shaped pot...
and turned it into a snake pot. It has five frogs inside. It is another "Art saves a life" pot. If you don't know the story, look around my website and click on another snake pot.
Here's a pic of my studio assistant. My son, Chris, 10 years old.
It has been a long fall season in St. Louis. We have yet to have a freeze. I have been particularily inspired with the idea of fall and will be devoting the rest of November to fall inspired pots.
Just thought I would throw in a pic of the house and studio in the fall.
And here are some fall inspired pots I made this week. First a sumac pot. The first of many, I am sure.
And a classically shaped landscape pot....
And lastly a "fall" pot of a different type.
A water"fall" pot. Something I have wanted to make for a long time. Very oriental. Right now, I am pondering how to introduce the human element into this pot. Somehow I have to make it a man and nature image.
