I am very proud of my paintings. Here is an early one, kind of "folky" looking, but that's what makes it so endearing. It is titled "Summer Saphires" and is a pic of what comes out of our garden.
Another painting of what came from the peach tree in the yard. "Peaches on the Patio."
As long as I am on the fruit theme, here is a pic that is titled "Red Fruit." My wife and I would go to the local farmer's market on Saturday morning. One day, I thought it would be interesting to paint a pic of all the red fruit. There was a plan for Green, Purple, and Yellow as well....
The Green Fruit was started then it stalled and here it sits...
Will I get back to it and finish it? Hmmmmmm. I would have to take a break from pots.
Hmmmmm.
Here is perhaps my favorite painting. It is close to being finished. And I started it in 1991! There is just a bit of painting to go and then the frame has to be made. I have started the frame, so maybe I will finish this pic this year in the fall when the pottery madness subsides.
Every fall, my wife and I would go over to Pere Marquette State Park in Illinois. We would pick persimmons for a friend. We always went to this tree and spent time walking and picking some fruit. When my son, Chris, was born we spent the afternoon near the tree and I started this painting. Chris would sit on a blanket...
And Kath, my wife, would pose for me....
It was -and still is- a beautiful way to spend a fall afternoon. I started the pic in 1991 and took it over three or four times in the years since and put a few hours into it.
A painting of an "Ohio Corn Farm"...
Some "Tanks" down on the Mississippi River in south St. Louis.
You have probably noticed I make all my frames. The Red Fruit frame and this next frame are painted frames. Great illusion... This painting is titled "Spring Storm, Yelleville, Arkansas" Worked this one off of photographs.
And finally, a picture of my Mom and Dad sitting on the beach up in New Hampshire. 44"x44".
After I scroll through these pictures, I think to myself, "These pictures are a source of great joy." Then I think I should be painting. Next I think, "Naaa, make those pots. I am sure my pots are a source of joy for a lot of people."
