Sumacs waiting to turn red...
Big tall rain pot with blowing wind.
Birds flying sideways and sumacs blowing over. And lightning! Gonna be a great pot guaranteed.
Another new design- hollyhocks. Wow!
We, Aaron and I, spent a week purging and then mixing glazes. I have a new sense of how to glaze. I'll be working with maybe 80 glazes.
The biggest thing I made this year. Big and heavy!
A piece of Kutani for inspiration...
And a bit of Hasui for even more. In my estimation, this is one of the finest woodblock print images of the 20th Century.
Spring in St. Louis. I have a couple of new designs that I am working on this week that are inspired by what is in bloom at this moment. I'll show you pics of them next update.
This plate took more time than anything else I made this cycle. It is a "Synthesis of Winter" image. I have very high hopes for it. It is a much more like painting than pots.
I thought I would be glazing by now, but I decided to "make" for one more week which is quickly turning into two weeks. I have some irresistable inspiration and some things that I have to make, but have been avoiding.
I did a stupid thing and one of the big plates cracked. I should have known better....
I saw this ad that I ran in the JAAPA and since the pictured pot was the only one of that design I have made to date, I decided I had to make a couple of them for this year.
These are the last pots this make cycle...
The last wisteria plate almost finished.
Here is the very start of a new design. I predict it will be very "poplar."
